Nervousness is an uneasy psychological state that is caused due to the agitation or excitement. It is a nervous disorder which occurs when a person gets extremely anxious and loses the thinking power. This results into lack of concentration, confidence and finally the failure in a task.
Nervousness is a feeling of being nervous mostly before something important like giving a speech, presentation, teaching a class, board meeting, or anything that you are afraid of.
Fear is the main reason for nervousness. When you are not completely prepared or have lack of knowledge or are afraid of the question arising or fear of failure, then it results into nervousness.
When you are nervous you may feel that your palms are getting moist, mouth getting dry, shaky and nervous voice, increase in heartbeat, jitteriness, and excessive sweating. If you are facing all these signs then certainly you are facing the problems of nervousness.
But, not to worry because it is easy to cope with nervousness, here are tips to cope with nervousness—
1. Practice and more practice about the things that you fear. Suppose you fear giving a speech, then practice at your home rigorously. This will help you overcome fear and you will not feel nervous.
2. Deep breathing helps to cope with nervousness. When you feel nervous sit calmly and feel completely relaxed. Start deep breathing slowly. It increases the oxygen content in your body. The more amount of oxygen reaches the brain, which in turn relaxes the blood vessels in brain and you feel better.
3. Break the thought process that is making you nervous. Just get up from your place and try to concentrate on something else.
4. Be completely prepared. Study the things thoroughly and don’t leave any loop holes in whatever you are doing. This will make your mind clear and it will not allow the nervousness feeling to arise.
5. Think positively. Most of the time we thing about what may go wrong and this is what makes us nervous. Rather, think that everything will go fine and as per the plan. It helps to ruin the fears of failure and you overcome the nervousness.
6. Some the foods are found to be helpful in reducing the nervousness. Eat the foods rich with carbohydrates (pasta, potatoes, bread) and proteins (spinach, mushrooms, eggs). They will provide you with the required energy that would help you to cope nervousness.
